During net surfing using MTNL broadband connection, we all get annoyed by unwanted pop-up advertisement displayed bottom right corner of the screen. Not only this is annoying; it also consume your broadband speed. Now seeing those ads, at first, you get angry and shout on MTNL broadband. This is ridiculous as you are paying for service not advertisements.

Anyway, if you want to get rid of these unwanted push-ups of MTNL then, you can block mtnl pop-up ads. There are many ways to do this.

1. Block using Filter:

Adding filter in your broadband router would help you most. This will block the ad server within router itself before entering your desktop.

Add these two in your url filter available in Access Management tab:

  • URL index 1 put: http://adphonso.com/
  • URL index 2 put: http://203.94.243.40/

2. Edit hosts file:

You can edit windows host file to block their ad server. You need to open notepad as administrator (right click on notepad and click "Run as administrator" then browse to windows\system32\drivers\etc folder. Select all files from the dropdown menu and you can see now hosts file.

Or

You can directly go to the etc folder mentioned above and then change the security permission of the file to full access. Now open with notepad to edit. revert permission after saving changes.

Add these two in your hosts file:

  • 127.0.0.1 adphonso.com
  • 127.0.0.1 1 203.94.243.40

3. Use Adblock:
You can use any adblock software. But unfortunately most such programmes are spyware. It's better you write your own hosts file.

4. Contact Useless MTNL & BSNL Customer Care Toll Free number:

You can contact MTNL Customer Care Center at the Toll Free Number 1800-103-5503. But, rest assure, it will be no help.
